1. Who we are

Read Write Arabic provides an online Arabic learning service for families. For the personal information described in this policy, Read Write Arabic acts as the data controller unless we explain otherwise.

Privacy questions can be sent to hello@readwritearabic.com. Support enquiries can be sent to help@readwritearabic.com.

2. Information we collect

  • Parent account information, such as name, email address, account credentials and account settings.
  • Child profile information, such as the profile name or username selected by the parent and learning progress. We do not use child profiles for direct marketing.
  • Learning activity, including exercises attempted, progress, scores and learning history needed to provide progress features.
  • Subscription and billing records. Card details are handled by our payment provider rather than stored as full card numbers by Read Write Arabic.
  • Support and sales communications, including messages sent through our contact forms and helpdesk.
  • Marketing preferences, including whether an adult has actively opted in, when that choice was made, the consent wording/version and later opt-outs.
  • Technical and security information, such as logs, device/browser information and information needed to protect accounts and operate the service.
  • Referral information when optional referral cookies are allowed, so qualifying affiliate referrals can be attributed.

3. Why we use information

Process payments, accounting and legal recordsContract and legal obligations
Answer support and sales enquiries and keep the service secureContract and legitimate interests in operating and protecting the service

4. Email and marketing

Service messages needed to operate an account, provide support, confirm transactions or deliver requested information are separate from marketing messages.

Marketing consent is optional. We do not make marketing consent a condition of creating an account. Where we rely on consent, the marketing box is not pre-selected. Adults can withdraw marketing consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in a marketing email or, when signed in, through Email Preferences.

We do not buy, rent or scrape email lists for Read Write Arabic marketing. See our Email Practices page for our sending standards.

5. Children

Read Write Arabic is designed for family use. An adult parent or guardian is responsible for creating and managing child profiles. We aim to collect only the information needed to provide the learning experience and progress reporting. Child profile information is not added to marketing lists.

6. Service providers

We use specialist providers to operate the service. Depending on the feature used, these may include hosting and email providers, Amazon Web Services/Amazon SES for email delivery, Mautic for marketing automation, FreeScout for support workflows, and Stripe for payment processing. Providers may process information only for the services they provide to us and under their own applicable security and privacy obligations.

7. International processing

Some suppliers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where required, we use appropriate contractual or other recognised safeguards for international transfers.

8. How long we keep information

We keep account and learning records while they are needed to provide the service and for a reasonable period afterwards where required for support, security, disputes or legal obligations. Financial records may be kept for statutory accounting periods. Marketing preference and consent records may be kept as evidence of the choices made. Affiliate visitor records are designed around a limited attribution window rather than indefinite tracking.

9. Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may give you rights to access, correct, erase or restrict personal information, object to certain processing, request portability and withdraw consent. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.

Contact hello@readwritearabic.com to exercise a privacy right. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office if you are unhappy with how your information is handled.

10. Cookies

Our use of cookies and similar technologies is explained in our Cookie Policy. Essential cookies are used to provide requested site functions. Optional referral or measurement cookies are not required to use the core service and are subject to the choices presented to visitors.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the service or legal requirements change. We will update the version/date on this page and provide additional notice where a material change requires it.
